Negreanu closes in on Hachem WSOP 2005 winner Joseph Hachem tops the all time poker money list. The $7.5 million victory is still enough for the Australian to hold on to the top spot, but rising star Daniel Negreanu is closing in rapidly. Negreanu recently took home $700,000 by winning the WSOP Circuit Championship and now only $300,000 set the two players apart. Hachem came from nowhere and took home the biggest prize check in a poker tournament ever. That is in fact his only win in a major event so far. Negreanu, on the other hand, has been successful at poker tables, all around the world. His finest achievements are two titles on the World Poker Tour, and three victories in WSOP events. He has finished in the money several times more, but his best finish in the World Championship Event is an 11th place from 2001. Even though Negreanu had a rough 2005 most poker expert believe that he will soon surpass Hachem on the money list. The Canadian has shown great skill and consistency over the years and is held as one of the best poker players in the world today. Negreanu’s is known for his ability to read other players, and to use his poker chips to maximum advantage when his has a big stack. Hachem is still considered to be a “one hit wonder” on the poker scene, and still has a lot to prove. Other players in the hunt for the top spots are John Huanda, Phil Ivey, and the World Champions from 1998, Scotty Nguyen.
